General comments.

First indications suggest that you are quite an energetic and enterprising person with an outgoing nature likely to impress others. You like to lead and take the initiative. Once committed to a course of action, you can be relied on to complete whatever you begin. Yet, in contrast, part of you likes to approach life from a secure position - a solid base - so you temper your enthusiasm with due care and caution. You need to be aware that quick adaptability to changing circumstances is not easy. Perhaps you need to be more flexible?

There is a rather rare configuration in your chart known as a Finger of Fate. I mention this because it has very important implications. There will be times in your life when a change of direction comes upon you, probably quite dramatically, resulting in emotional stress. During these times you may feel as if things are beyond your control, at the mercy of conditions - as if in the hands of some kind of fate. Although changes like this are difficult they do offer new opportunities and, incidentally, clear the way for something better.

Your Sun Sign is Cancer.

At the moment of your birth the Sun was in the Sign of Cancer. From an astrological point of view the Sun represents the real 'you' and how you express yourself. 

As a Cancerian, you are primarily motivated by your feelings. Others may be logical, but you tend to feel if something is right or not. On the debit side, your moods will tend to change easily and this may make you a little touchy at times. The need to protect and care for others is quite strong, but you can be just as adept at protecting yourself should the need arise. You are also naturally imaginative, and more will be said on this later.

The Sign rising over the horizon at your time of birth governs your personality type. For you this is the Sign of Capricorn. There is a need in you to aspire to greater things, so I would expect that you have some personal goals and ambitions to aim for. I don't think you are one to let life pass you by, so if an opportunity comes your way you will probably rise to the occasion. You also like responsibility, which fits in well with your generally serious, practical outlook on life. Of course all this seriousness can have its drawbacks and it may make you feel gloomy at times. Perhaps you are too serious or your outlook too rigid?

At the onset I should say that you seem to be a person who does a great deal of thinking and communicating with others either by word of mouth, letters or phone calls. Your thinking is highly focused as if a great deal depended on the outcome. There will be periods in your life of mental upheaval and tension and you may be forced to rethink your ideas as a result of circumstances.

You do seem to have a confident way of expressing yourself and your opinions and you can be quite progressive giving you the ability to come up with new, possibly highly original, ideas. Care is needed because your strong opinions may clash with others and result in arguments.

I did mention earlier that you were imaginative. This is strongly featured. You have a powerful imagination that is almost boundless, one ideally suited to more 'spiritual' trains of thinking, or indeed anything where imaginative thinking is needed. However, it does need control because it is all too easy to wander off course through daydreaming or become confused by too much information. You may find meditation very useful in getting the best out of your mind.

There are indications that further studies could be of value to you. You certainly have the ability and the confidence together with the precise, analytical thinking needed to succeed. The only difficulty standing in your way is lack of concentration - your mind does wander and you are prone to worry, so perhaps this puts you off making a start. You should try because you can be successful.

By this I mean any close relationship, such as close friends, as well as partners. The forming of close relationships would seem to be a major influence in your life. You need to be close to your partner and you depend strongly on this. Love and affection should come naturally. Your caring nature, which is very much part of your makeup, comes across strongly here, as does your need to be protective, although you may on occasions overdo this. You can be quite generous.

You seem to have a clear cut picture of what you want from a partner, you know what you want and can be quite assertive when necessary. Care is needed here because you may push a little too hard at times. Yet, in complete contrast, there are occasions when you seem unable to express your feelings; apprehension and timidity block your expression.

There is a natural need to communicate with partners and share ideas, which is good and adds to what you have. Things do seem to get confused and emotional now and then and this blocks the natural flow.

Your need to be among people has a serious purpose and may be connected to your aims and ambitions in life. Chances are you will come into contact with generous people who can be helpful, but it is also possible to encounter others who are extravagant in word or deed. Your ability to communicate and co-operate should make you many friends.

Shared resources.

Resources means finances as well as material things. These are placed at your disposal through others, such as joint finances shared by husband and wife.

You have a powerful interest and strong attraction to the idea of sharing resources, your intuitive feel for what is right is good. Generally, you are quite assertive in these matters and like the idea of organising finances, but you may overdo this and push things to hard. Conversely, there are times when financial matters cause problems and you are uncertain what to do. Fear of losses may block your confidence and cause you to shy away from taking a firm line.

Your chart strongly suggests that you are ambitious and need to succeed in some way which brings you into contact with the public, gaining some form of recognition for what you do. As previously indicated, there is a strong connection to people in a casual sense, but the main thrust seems to be your ability to get on with people you can relate to. You certainly don't mind compromises, making sacrifices, or putting a lot of energy into your aims.

On the debit side, there seems to be some uncertainty and confusion which leads you to shy away from responsibility. At times, you do not seem to assert yourself when you should. Thus, there are contrasts leading to an erratic approach. Nevertheless, you have the means to succeed - so have more faith in yourself.

Of course this is only a short report, but it could be extended quite a lot using the principles taught in the Basic Course. The thing to bear in mind is that students are taught to produce reports like this without using books or having to refer to ready made 'interpretations'. The process of chart analysis and interpretation is made much easier through the use of keywords and the students own imagination. This is how it should be - look at the chart, list your observations, then bring them together into a meaningful whole. You can do it because the process used is quite natural.

Lessons 5 & 6 deal with future trends. Here is an example of the type of work you could be producing after studying the material in Lesson 5. 

General overview.

1. Disruption, sudden shocks and general tension is likely to affect your self interests, close relationships and joint finances.

2. A degree of confusion, worry is likely to affect close relationships; things may not be as clear as they seem.

3. Major changes can be expected in close relationships, some of which will be difficult. Plans could be aborted and uncertainty may rule.

4. Major changes can also be expected regarding casual friends and acquaintances. In the main these ought to be beneficial but there may be some difficulties and uncertainty to contend with.

Personality.

Your personality is ruled by Capricorn which gives you a serious nature. You are cautious, tend to take your time over things and have a liking for being practical and sensible. Indications for this year suggest contrary to your normal nature you may find yourself behaving erratically, probably due to tension building up and upsetting your normal steadiness. You may also find that you will want to keep your distance and look to your own interests.

You will find times when it won’t be easy to concentrate because your mind will seem to wander about and you may find yourself indulging in daydreams rather than concentrating on matters in hand. You may also find yourself getting involved in arguments and disagreements; part of you needs to be contradictory, so settling things down or reaching a compromise may not be easy. Tension could be a problem.

Relationships. [Partner, close friends, business associates]

You seem to be in buoyant mood and quite keen to motivate people close to you or to join in with their plans. It could be that you have some enterprising plans to share and see through. While enthusiasm is a good thing do be careful not to go overboard and push too hard to get your own way or you may upset people. Likewise, plans should be kept within bounds and any temptation towards extravagance should be avoided. 

This is a time when your emotions are working in opposite directions. Sometimes you will feel quite passionate but there may also be times when you are uncertain of your feelings. 

Communicating and sharing ideas would seem to be important and could be quite productive. You need to be aware of potential difficulties that could flare up from time to time. During such time, tempers could get frayed and conflicts are a possibility. Also, best to check all agreements - verbal or otherwise - carefully for mistakes. Someone may not be telling the whole truth. 

This is an eventful year as far as relationships are concerned as there are major changes on the horizon which ought to prove advantageous; either an existing relationship improves or a new association is formed. But it is not all plain sailing. Some changes may not be easy to handle and could get fraught or even disruptive. Take care that under pressure you are not being used or taken advantage of. I would be particularly wary of legal implications - check everything carefully in case someone is being careless or is loading the dice in their favour. A stressful situation could see you distancing yourself from someone.

Joint finances. [Money shared with others, loans].

This area of your life seems unstable this year and you may find that things suddenly come to light that surprise you. Your general attitude seems to be one of indecision, perhaps arising from uncertainty and fears. You may also be subject to sudden impulses or snap decisions. It is a good ideal to keep things on an even keel and not to respond to such feelings. A calm, steady approach can work wonders until the phase passes.

Ambitions.

This would appear to be a good year to attend to your aims and ambitions in life and you will find that you will become quite involved in what you are doing. Your attitude is positive and you are prepared to make sacrifices in order to achieve your goals. Follow your imagination and put it to good use. Success is what you see in your mind’s eye.

A serious purpose brings you into contact with people but you may find yourself being hesitant and even uncertain at times. At the root of this is a major change taking place which could see you coming into contact with new people or refining the way you deal with existing ones.

Directed Ascendant opposite Pluto.

Long term trend which has been in force for several months and continues throughout this month eventually reaching its peak around the 14th October 1999.

Finances, especially those connected to other people do seem to be important and could be a source of concern. You need to check to see if your attitude towards these matters is correct as you may not be seeing things realistically.

Changes are occurring which are not easy to handle and have a great deal to do with how you relate to people. Thee may have differences of opinion because your way of expressing yourself is clashing with others.

Directed Jupiter square Mercury.

Long term trend which begins 8th July 1999 and lasts for 1 year.

This marks the beginning of a long term trend which will gradually increase in strength reaching a peak in July 2000.

Work seems to feature strongly and could be affected by having too many things on the go at the same time. It is important to narrow this down to essentials otherwise mistakes could be made.

Your mind seems to be clouded with vague worries and you may be inclined to say more than you need to in order to get your point across or to impress people.

All is not as it seems to be with close relationships. It could be that someone you associate with is not being completely honest. Enthusiasm may lead to extravagance if you are not careful.

Transiting Pluto conjunct Saturn. Effect is strong.

This is a time of change when you will feel that change in a personal sense and notice a transformation in your attitude towards life and how you interact with life.

You will find that your ambitions and goals in life come into focus and that you give these matters some serious consideration. Major changes are on the way.

Your contact with people is also brought into focus and you may find yourself having to depend on their reliability. Changes in this area of your life imply that you will make new contacts and refine old ones.

It should be said that due to the contrary natures of the two planets involved you may find periods when things seem to get stressful. This will pass, so try to keep things in perspective.

Begins 10th July 1999 and reaches a peak on the 6th August 1999.

Your imagination may tend to wander and it could be hard to concentrate, you may also be given to sudden impulses. Part of the problem could be that you are subject to tension at this time.

This is also a time when you are more vulnerable than normal and so easily influenced. Some associations could be the source of tension and there could be rifts.

Your domestic situation seems to be subject to a degree of disruption which may in part be due to your own need to keep changing things around.
