5 April 2007. My challenge to critics on YouTube.

I maintain, and have always maintained, that a person's ability to mount an intelligent criticism of Astrology is directly related to the knowledge they have of the subject and the quality of that knowledge. Having seen first hand the taunts, jibes, and personal abuse  these individuals use and dare to describe as 'reasoned criticism', I decided to issue a direct challenge to them to prove they had sufficient knowledge and to test the quality of that knowledge. I also predicted in my video that they would continue with their insults and do everything possible to evade taking my challenge. I have been proved correct.

To date, only 2 critics have made an application. One pulled out after promising to take the challenge, one failed stage 1 with a score of only 1/10. None of the others have taken up my offer despite frequent direct challenges. No critic has passed my challenge. Furthermore the take-up rate is abysmal. 

Remember this, when someone launches into a tirade against Astrology their knowledge  is likely to range from virtually nothing [a bigot] to pure hearsay [a reactionary]. They are not to be taken seriously.

Applicant 1 Pulled out after promising to take my challenge - didn't have the courage to contact me about this, instead continued to carry on making absurd comments. 

Applicant 2 took stage 1 and failed with a score of 1/10.

I have stated on many occasions that the sole use of transits for predictive purposes is pointless and that in order to get the whole picture one needs to include progressions, directions, and the current Solar Return chart, the latter being of particular importance. The transits from Moon to Mars can certainly be ignored as they are too weak to be of any consequence, yet they are often used by fake Astrologers to pad out a computer report. Even the transits of Jupiter or Saturn are only of use in certain circumstances. It is to the outer planets we must turn if we desire accuracy in forecasts. 

What is not generally realised is that while a transit is applying it is in full force but once a transit has passed exactness events caused by the planet are to all intents and purposes complete, so the remaining separating period is only likely to focus the individual's attention on the after-effects. In most cases this separating period can be ignored. Again , this is not the case with computer reports, so the period in which a transit is active is artificially extended thus making it less than accurate. 

Far more important is the effect of a transit from an outer in the Solar Return. The orb of influence for transits is just 1 degree, whereas the orbs used in Solar Returns are much larger, in fact the same as in a natal chart. If we take the case of, say, Pluto, forming a major aspect to a person's Sun, we can be fairly sure that the transit will have passed after approximately 1 year. However, the much larger orb permitted in the Solar Return [ 8 degrees]  will ensure that this aspect occurs in consecutive charts for on average 8 years, thus spreading the effect over a much longer period that would have been evident using transits alone. This is is one very good reason why it is essential to use Solar Returns in forecasting.
